Over 1000 fires homes have burned down in wildfires in California. Horrifying - I remember wildfires in the hills when I lived out there, and of course I remember the terror of our single house fire when the girls were little. I can't imagine fire devastation on such a big scale. There is a link for relief efforts. http://www.californiavolunteers.org/disaster_prep.asp

I think about you whenever these stories come on. It's hard for me to imagine living in an area (like your Orange County) where the houses are often fire-proofed to the point that the firemen can shelter inside when the flare-ups get to big! It's a terrifying thought to have that sort of destruction looming and spreading like it does. Yikes!

These fires are so tragic. Just awful to think about.....I cannot imagine what it must feel like to know one's home is in a fire's path.
