Today has been a good Saturday - lots of housework and some computer play, a little time in Bob's classroom and a little more tomorrow, a walk with K.K., home made enchilladas by Chris. Last night was mideastern. That man has me thoroughly spoiled. I like to cook fine, but living with him is like a gourmet world tour, and I'm even managing to lose weight while enjoying all this glorious food.

Wonderful to have such wonderful meals. I would imagine Chris enjoys having such an appreciative group to cook for. I'm wondering: Does he make a menu out for the week or just plan a day or two ahead? Is there anyone there who is a picky eater?

Thanks for your consistent comments, and your questions, mary. Chris tends to plan meals a day or two ahead, and kind of generally - often open to a suggestion or craving at the last minute as long as he has the right ingredients. He has a difficult group to feed, a number of allergies, a wide range in desire for spiciness, and Ruth being picky in the conventional sense of having trouble with textures and not liking many vegetables. he uses a book called "sneaky chef" to get healthier ingredients into many meals (like cauliflower in the mashed potatoes) and Ruth approves. She wants to eat healthier, just not to eat things she hates. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for answering my question, Victoria. I was curious how Chris did his planning. I thought of Chris when we toured Ten Chimneys and learned that Alfred Lunt was pretty much a master chef. He even went to cooking school in Paris, often cooked for small groups or even for parties they had. He had quite a collection of cookbooks too! The sneaky chef book that Chris has sounds interesting.
